What We Do

Laser Dentistry

We utilize the soft tissue laser from DEKA. It has been an invaluable tool to help us provide the highest standards of quality care. Here are several ways in which we use our laser.

PERIODONTAL DISEASE:

If you have periodontal disease or have been told you have periodontal pockets, our hygienists are trained to use the laser for non-surgical treatment. The laser is used in conjunction with the scaling procedures. The laser will help to loosen up the tartar that is attached to the roots of the teeth and will also firm up the tissue surrounding the teeth decreasing the pocket depth. The laser will also sterilize the pockets by killing off the destructive bacteria which lead to the loss of bone and gum attachment. These same bacteria can circulate to the heart, lungs, and other organs creating bigger problems. The use of the laser has been proven to be the best way to eliminate these bacteria.

For patients who have more advanced stages of gum disease we use the laser to do gum surgery. The biggest advantage is we dont have to cut the gums. There is no bleeding or stitches which greatly reduces the post operative pain and swelling.

COSMETIC RECONTOURING:

We often use the laser in our cosmetic cases to help even up the gums. When designing a veneer case we don't just look at the teeth. The gums are the frame for the teeth, and if there are irregularities in gum position it will affect the aesthetic outcome of the overall presentation of the smile.

FRENECTOMY:

Often the muscle attachment for the lip is too high on the gums around the teeth. This can cause a gap between the two top front teeth or on the lower may cause a stripping of the gums around the teeth. With the laser we can trim back this muscle without cutting, bleeding, and stitches.

CANKER SORES, COLD SORES:

If you suffer from sores in your mouth or on your lips, we can use the laser on these sores for immediate pain relief. The laser will help seal the nerve endings and kill the viruses causing the ulcer.

LUMPS & BUMPS:

We have removed cysts and fibrous nodules on the lips, tongue, and gums. Again the big advantage is there is no bleeding or cutting and the healing time is greatly reduced.
